Important Notice – 3rd June

3rd June 2020

Dear Parent(s)/Guardians,

I hope you all had an enjoyable long weekend and made the most of the fabulous weather we had. It was also nice for everyone to take a break from the books and switch off for a little while. We are easing boys back into work this week as this is a three day week! I’ve a few quick points to bring to your attention:

  • You will find work attached for your son for three days this week, starting today, Wednesday, June 3rd. Next week will be our last full week of work so please keep up your brilliant effort boys for a little while longer! Our staff are delighted with the high level of work you are producing! Creative week begins on Monday, June 15th. Teachers are busy preparing fun activities for the boys to do and who knows, maybe even for parents to do! Our school year will come to end with an Active Home Week. This will begin on Monday, June 22nd. Last year we had a memorable Active School Week to finish the year and this year I’ve no doubt it will be similar, albeit at home. I’ve also attached a school calendar for the new school year 2020/2021. It is important I point out that this is subject to change considering the circumstances we are currently living in. You will be informed as soon as possible if there are changes to be made to it.

  • We will be providing families with an opportunity to collect their son’s belongings (workbooks, copies etc) on the week beginning Monday, June 15th. Time slots will be allocated next week for families to do this in a safe manner. We ask that book rental books are returned to the school also. I will provide a list of the book rental books in next week’s note.

  • A massive word of congratulations goes to our school debating team who were declared joint winners of the Concern Primary Schools’ Debating Competition. This is a huge honour for our school and it is the first time in our history to claim the much sought after title. Our team comprised of six members – Andrew Stapleton, Matthew Bracken, Stefan Filatov, Jack Deegan, Kai Balster and Daniels Kenigsbergs. You will go down in the history books in our school boys!! A special word of thanks to Mr. Cunniffe who prepared the boys so well for the event.

  • We are also delighted to mention that our school has received it’s second Amber Flag for the promotion of mental health and wellbeing. A massive word of thanks to our Amber Flag Committee led by Ms. Minogue who put in such hard work all year. Well done everyone!

As always, you know where we are if we can help you in any way at all. Have a good week and I will be in touch again on Monday. Stay safe.

Yours Sincerely,

Niall Bergin,
Principal,
CBS Primary School,
Stephen Street,
Kilkenny.
