Teacher-Artist Partnership

This term, we took part in a Department of Education initiative called the ‘Teacher-Artist Partnership’. We worked with a local artist and photographer called Kasia on a wide range of enjoyable and interesting activities, all loosely based on the theme of ‘Plants’. Over five weeks, we looked at Kasia’s own work, made pots and planted seeds, constructed art journals, went on a plant walk, made anthotypes, designed our dream gardens, created Lumen prints and finally, held an exhibition for the whole school in the hall. We are very grateful to Kasia for sharing her creativity with us!

As part of our work on the Teacher-Artist Partnership Programme, we visited Rothe House and spent some time in the garden there. We learned about the interesting plants, fruits, vegetables and herbs growing on site, and about the history of the garden since the 17th Century. We brought the school’s iPads to take photos and we spoke to the gardeners about what they were planting for Spring.
