Gaelic Football

Our school Gaelic football team is looking forward to playing their county semi-final on Friday 18th November 2022. They are playing against Kilmanagh at a neutral venue in Thomastown at 1.30pm.

We would like to wish the boys every success and congratulate them on their dedication to their training sessions and their previous matches. Thank you also to Mr. Bergin and Ms. Cantwell for all their hard work preparing the boys and to the parents who have driven the boys to their away matches.

The C.B.S. has long been acknowledged as a dedicated promoter of Gaelic Games in Kilkenny. Despite the predominance of hurling in the school, a dedicated and enthusiastic approach by the Brothers and lay staff alike has ensured that Gaelic Football has flourished in the school for three decades and more.

The great attention and detail to the training and coaching of under- age teams has resulted in the school contesting numerous county football finals and enjoying considerable success. The present staff continues to give the same commitment to the promotion of Gaelic Football in the school, encouraging their young charges to participate in and enjoy the game of football through organizing football leagues at every level.

The current football team continues to build on the success of former teams and with the proper structures in place, the school continues to plan for the future, thus upholding the proud tradition of Gaelic Football in the C.B.S. school.
